Quentin's project confuses some...
It seems a simple but brilliant idea to us – Tarantino and Rodriguez, the film geek’s film geeks decided that for their latest project (which opened in the States yesterday) they would resurrect the old days of the Grindhouse, where you would see two films for the price of one, interspersed with trailers for upcoming b-movie goodies. Quentin and Robert roped in Eli Roth (Hostel), Edgar Wright (Shaun Of The Dead) and Rob Zombie (Halloween) to create fake trailers and we wait for the fun to begin…
Except now it seems that certain territories just don’t understand the Grindhouse concept and are demanding that the two films (Planet Terror and Death Proof) play separately as two individual presentations. Duh. Still, it seems that both directors shot plenty of extra footage ready for the DVDs and the features are to be extended for international markets. The question remains what will happen to the trailers? Let’s hope that the UK sees sense and keeps the project as its makers intended…
If you can’t wait to see Eli Roth’s brilliant take on the slasher genre, with the trailer for fake movie ‘Thanksgiving’, it is available now on YouTube and we suggest you click over right now to enjoy some Grindhouse goodness.
