Homer sweet Homer

Not since The Flintstones burst onto primetime has an animated family been so successful as those yellow perils, The Simpsons. With each year that has passed, fans have demanded a big screen adventure for Homer and company and finally, they have their wish with the imaginatively titled The Simpsons Movie.

So what’s new? Well, nothing. This is not a criticism though – what we have here is some of the series’ greatest writes coming together to create an engrossing and entertaining cinema experience, packed with enough jokes, sight gags and pop culture references to satisfy the biggest Bart junkies.

As with the best episodes, the basic premise here is: Homer does something stupid and the town is made to pay for it. Every character (including such cult favourites as Duffman and Gabbo) makes an appearance at some point and there is a new icon in the shape of Spider-Pig who is responsible for many of the best scenes here.

Essentially, you already know if you’re going to enjoy this – like the series, like the movie. And if you don’t like The Simpsons then really, we have little time for you! Go see.
