'Bang Bang Boom Cake'
On the surface, Tiny Masters Of Today might sound like the worst idea since Little Jimmy Osmond stormed the charts – a brother and sister team aged 11 and 13. Yet instead of growing up with nursery rhymes, Ada and Ivan were raised on Pavement and Sonic Youth and thus Bang Bang Boom Cake is a scuzzy New York treat more than worthy of your attention.
Ada and Ivan are backed by Russell Simms of Blues Explosion fame and also get help from Yeah Yeah Yeahs Karen O and Moldy Peach Kimya Dawson. Songs such as Radio Riot explode from the speakers with spirit and power and they even turn their hands to politics briefly with the rockin’ hilarity of ‘Bushy’. Mostly though it’s songs about DJs, discos and having fun and you cant help but get swept up in the youthful enthusiasm. Excellent.
